USA based, Kansas City International Airport utilizes a fully digital IP network video surveillance system, which encompasses 161 JVC VN-C655U digital IP PTZ dome network cameras.  Each camera is strategically placed throughout the airport to monitor passenger loading areas, holding rooms, jet bridge doors and ramps.

The VN-C655U cameras work alongside 220 existing analog cameras where video is stored and accessed using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) via JVC manufactured network video recorders.  The VN-C655U cameras utilize a 25x zoom and have 360-degree endless-rotation enabling images to be recorded in any direction and immediate identification of a location or object should an alarm be triggered.  The cameras record images at 30 frames per second (640 x 480) using a Motion-JPEG compression and have an advanced set of day and night features ensuring optimum quality images all year around.

"Kansas City International Airport had some strict specifications and we needed a company that could handle all their requirements, the main condition being a solution that would allow the CCTV system to operate on the airport's IP network," said Martin Dowman, Project Manager, C&C Group.  Lenexa, Kansas-based C&C Group is the systems integrator for the Kansas City Airport project.  "We chose JVC because they had the technology that allowed us to take the airport's existing analog cameras and integrate them into a complete system over an IP network."

"JVC was chosen because of its high-quality video, features and its network video recorder management capabilities," said Sal Mazzola, Senior Systems Designer at Engineering Design firm, Ross & Baruzzini.

JVC's VN-C655U dome camera shall be on display alongside the full set of network surveillance products on stand 039 at IIPSEC 2007.
