Intrepid Security, has introduced BrandTag, a simple but effective solution for retailers
Loss prevention specialist, Intrepid Security, has introduced a simple but effective solution for retailers whose profits are being hit by opportunistic shoppers who seek refunds for merchandise after wearing or using them.

BrandTag is a product authentication tag, which allows retailers to verify that an item of merchandise has originated from its store.

"Our retail clients tell us that exchange and refund fraud is an issue they are becoming increasingly concerned about," said Noel Verbruggen, Managing Director of Hounslow based Intrepid Security. "The problem has been highlighted in a recent survey carried out by market research company www.OnePoll.com in which one in three women admitted to having bought a dress, worn it and subsequently claimed a refund because ‘it didn't fit'. One in ten women said they carried out the practice every time they had a big night out, wedding or dinner party to go to!"

When applied to clothing, jewellery, accessories and shoes, BrandTag, which can be customised with a company's logo, acts as a powerful deterrent against exchange and refund fraud. Once removed it cannot be reapplied.
