Global Armour SA EOD Suit is designed with the operators comfort and protection as the primary focus

Global Armour SA's exclusive worldwide EOD partner, Defence and Security Equipment International Ltd (DSE International), has announced the sale of 17 Complete Sets of Global Armour EOD suits to an unspecified Indian State Police Force. This follows the sale of 32 suits to another Indian Police Force only last month.

As part of the procurement process for the order, these suits were independently tested in the UK by Ordnance Test Solutions Limited (OTS) and met and exceeded all requirements.

Global Armour SA has just released its Ultra - Light Weight EOD helmet which has a final mass of below 3.5 kg's. The helmet includes a high range decibel cut off feature that will assist in protecting the operators hearing during a blast scenario. Other recent developments include a stand-alone blast plate which has a V0 in excess of 1700 m/s.

The armour protection can be tailored to meet any pre-determined threat analysis

The Global Armour SA EOD Suit is designed with the operators comfort and protection as the primary focus. The suit and helmet are constructed from the latest in available material technologies and manufacturing methods. The armour protection can be tailored to meet any pre-determined threat analysis. The armour comprises multiple layers of soft, water repellent Aramid encapsulated in an impermeable outer cover for additional protection. Anti-trauma layering is included in the armour packs.

The option of including the steel hard armour anti-blast plates allows for the dramatic increase in the level of protection offered. The outer cover of the suit is made from Nomex RIIIA, which is an inherently flame retardant fabric with superior break open strength and UV stabilisation.

The communications system is an integral part of the helmet and comprises of external ambient sound pick up along with full duplex transmission and reception microphones and speakers, the option of allowing the use of radio communications is offered; these are totally VOX operated and require no hands on use during field operations. The helmet is manufactured using a sandwich construction of composite materials encasing an aramid fibre core. The face shield is constructed from a combination of acrylics and polycarbonate and opens vertically. When closed it is secured with two catches mounted out of the line of sight of the operator. The visors wrap around design allows for an uninterrupted view for the operator.
