Legoland® site contains approximately 55 million Lego® bricks set in 150 acres of parkland and is visited by 1.5 million annually.

Vikings' River Splash, the latest, largest, wettest ride at Legoland® Windsor, required optimum security surveillance to ensure customer safety and efficient operation. Staff at the Berkshire attraction are now able to watch visitors from two control desks at any point on their journey through the rapids ride.

DES Security Systems were chosen to install the system across the whole ride, and worked with Preston-based QED who provided the cable, and Vigitron UTP equipment for the project.

Andy Fielding of DES Security said: "Due to the huge voltages used to power the water pumps and a massive lake in the middle of the ride, the cabling had to go round the perimeter of the attraction. This required exceptionally long runs of over 500m. The performance of the Vigitron transceivers meant we could retain high signal quality over these distances."

Sixteen cameras were fitted to the ride, using Vigitron transmitters feeding back to the powered receiver at the main control desk, which in turn feeds the signals to the secondary control position via a single 25 pair CAT5 cable supplied by QED.

Vigitron Inc designs and manufactures a full range of twisted pair transceivers for transmitting color and monochrome video and data over unshielded twisted pair cable.
