Bosch Security Systems, a full-line manufacturer of high-quality fire alarm systems and components, announces that Senior Fire Product Manager Jack McNamara recently received two prestigious industry appointments.
McNamara has been named chairman of the National Electrical Manufacturing Association (NEMA) Signaling, Protection and Communication Product Group, where he will work with association representatives to promote safe product installation, innovative product development, and ongoing industry training.
He has also joined the Board of Directors of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA), whose mission is to be the foremost industry advocate organization dedicated to improving the quality, reliability and value of fire and life-safety systems.
"We asked Jack to run for the AFAA Board because we are always looking to provide our members with the best possible insight on fire alarm trends and product developments, while increasing innovation within our industry," says Tom Hammerberg, SET, CFPS, president/executive director - AFAA. "I've known Jack for many years and have seen firsthand his significant contributions to the fire and security industries. He will be a good addition to our Board, and we're looking forward to his participation."
In this leadership position with the AFAA, McNamara will work on developing and delivering high-quality training and educational programs, advocating thorough and proper inspection and tests, working with legislative bodies in the development of ordinances, and promoting automatic fire detection as an integral part of a balanced fire protection solution.
McNamara's career in the fire safety industry spans more than 30 years. In addition to NEMA and AFAA, he is also a member of the NFPA Technical and Technical Correlating Committees, and Underwriters Laboratories' various standard technical panels.
