The Boon Edam Airport Swinglane was installed at Xiamen Airport at the end of 2014
The Airport Swinglane self-service boarding gate's design is more suitable for the Chinese market

Royal Boon Edam recently announced that they have won the order for the installation of their Airport Swinglane self-boarding security lane at Xiamen International Airport in China. This project will be the first self-boarding project in China which is not installed as part of a pilot program.

Xiamen Airport is one of the busiest airports in China with nearly 20 million passengers in 2013. As an important provincial and regional air hub, the airport is serving the coastal city of Xiamen and surrounding cities of the Fujian Province, it also has direct routes to Malaysia, Korea, Japan and many other countries in Asia. Additionally there is one route to Europe: to Amsterdam. Like many airports in China, Xiamen is one of the front runners in the implementation of self-service in the airport terminal.

A Dutch Connection

The link with Amsterdam proved advantageous to Boon Edam. The company is headquartered in the Netherlands and the Dutch Consul General supported Boon Edam's bid. Boon Edam and representatives of Xiamen Airport first met during the China Airport Check-in Summit in Shanghai. After close consideration of all competitors, the airport ultimately decided to award the order to Boon Edam. Their design of the Airport Swinglane self-service boarding gate with an efficient add-on is more suitable for the Chinese market. The Airport Swinglane was installed at Xiamen Airport at the end of 2014.
