MITIE has recently secured a three-year contract with the Airline Operators Committee (AOC) at Bristol International Airport, making the company the sole supplier for hold baggage screening.

The contract, which commenced on 9 July 2007, involves a dedicated team of 26 security specialists working 24 hours per day undertaking multi-stage screening of all hold baggage, prior to it being loaded onto departing aircraft.

The success builds upon a thirteen-year relationship within aviation at Bristol International Airport and further enhances MITIE's position as one of the UK's leading suppliers of security to the aviation and transportation sectors.  MITIE currently has significant contracts operating at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton airports.

Tony Medhurst, Managing Director of MITIE's aviation security business, commented, "We are delighted to once again be working with the Bristol International Airports AOC and to have secured this important contract.  Hold baggage screening is critical to the successful operation of security within the aviation environment and this contract reinforces our expertise in this area.  We look forward to working with the AOC and its members to ensure that their security is managed in an efficient and successful manner."
