TAC to introduce products designed to meet Federal Homeland Security Directives and Standards

TAC, a world leader in building automation, security systems and energy solutions, is launching a Government Security Initiative.  Over the next few months, TAC will introduce the first of several new products designed to address the Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) and the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS-201) as well as other requirements often called for within government security projects.

As part of this initiative, TAC will offer a variety of product enhancements, such as an area lockdown feature that provides a quick method of sealing off areas when potential threats are detected.  Systems will also have the ability to automatically adjust access rights based on a change in condition or "Threat" level.  More flash memory and greater capacity to store personnel records locally will be available, as well as fast and secure Ethernet connections with Internet Security Protocol (IPSec) or Internet Key Exchange (IKE) Protocol encryption.

"The government security initiative places a focus on delivering the most robust and secure solutions for government installations," said Jon Williamson, senior product manager - government security solutions, for TAC.  "At the core of this initiative are our extensive knowledge and experience with advanced security installations worldwide, combined with new hardware and software products designed specifically to meet the latest government requirements."

TAC has designed these products to evolve as the standards change by creating new upgradeable controllers with extra processing power and memory.  As a result, the controllers will be able to expand beyond today's requirements with a simple "flash" upgrade.

TAC is leveraging its large research and development capabilities to design access control components that exceed the current industrial standards for security hardware and software.

"Only from both a powerful software and hardware product offering can the strongest security solution be created, and this is what TAC is delivering with its Government Security Initiative," said Williamson.  "Providing a government security solution, however, goes far beyond a strong product; it is TAC's knowledge and experience of executing an installation that makes the building truly secure."
