China Mobile is the leading mobile services provider in China. The company boasts the world's largest mobile network as well as the world's largest mobile subscriber base. China Mobile operates nationwide in all 31 provinces of China, autonomous regions and directly-administered municipalities in Mainland China and in Hong Kong SAR through its 32 subsidiaries. As of December 2008, China Mobile had a total staff of 138,368 and a subscriber base of over 457.25 million. The company enjoys a market share of approximately 72.4% in Mainland China.

The challenge

China Mobile required a solution to protect expensive electronic equipment situated in 54 remote sites in very harsh climatic environments. China Mobile was seeking a fully integrated security system with reliable outdoor detectors. The system had to support remote operation over a GSM connection, as these sites are isolated and have no telephony infrastructure.

The solution

China Mobile selected RISCO Group's ProSYS Integrated Security System with Voice Module and Advanced GSM Module for protection of their remote sites. Perimeter protection was provided by RISCO Group's award-winning WatchOUT reliable outdoor detectors. The ProSYS Voice Module allows China Mobile to arm and disarm the sites by dialling the security system and following prompts from a voice-guided menu. The connection to the security system is established over the mobile network using the Advanced GSM Module. The WatchOUT outdoor detectors provide superior detection using Selective Event Recognition to distinguish between real intrusion events and the numerous false alarm causes inherent in the outdoor environment.
