Lenses from US-based Rainbow CCTV are being used by a leading foreign currency provider to optimize client service.

Rainbow varifocal lenses are part of an innovative solution whereby the accuracy of tellers at branches of FX Currency Services are monitored by a digital recording system.

The FX Currency Services locations may be highly populated, with offices often having 50 cameras in an area of 200 square feet.

The application uses a pair of colour cameras operating at 16 frames per second at each telling desk.  While one camera focuses on the teller, currency and counting machine, the other shows an image of the written instructions that accompany the transaction request.  In this way the equipment helps the end-user to optimize efficiency and avoid the protracted enquiries that result when a docket does not match the currency type and amount dispensed.

The project consultant and installer is High Wycombe-based ITS Services.  Dave Sweetland of ITS said: “We tested the lenses extensively in conjunction with cameras and DVRs from Dowshu.  The Rainbow varifocals are giving us the functionality and high quality of image that we require in this demanding application where in the rare event of a problem the evidential trail is crucial.”

ITS Services delivers innovative combinations of equipment rather than boxed units on price.  The company works in environments where the client requires judicious use of access control with digital and analog CCTV units.

Major outlets where the equipment is being used include FX’s flagship premises in Victoria.

FX Currency Services’ ability to provide bespoke foreign exchange solutions has placed it in the Sunday Times Profit Track 100 Index.  The company was among the first non-banking institutions to be licensed by the Bank of England as a provider of foreign exchange services.
