The announcement was made before 150 Milestone channel partners and leading manufacturers from the security industry at the company's "MIPS" 2007 channel partner conference in Miami.

Milestone Systems Inc. President, Eric Fullerton, outlined the acceleration of the new channel in the security industry based on IP technology.  At the Milestone Integration Platform Symposium (MIPS) held 9-11 February in Miami, he explained to the international group of channel partners and leading security manufacturers that the increased efficiency of IP is the financial driver for end-users, the richness and value offered by video is creating the growth in traffic, and that together these are driving a new upgrade cycle for all industries.

Fullerton went on to predict that "between 2010 and 2015, the volume of video traffic will overtake voice and other data running over the internet. IP technology is the driver of the next cycle for the whole industry, from processors through infrastructure to storage and software."

One of the highlights of the event was the pre-launch of XProtect Corporate, the next generation of Milestone open platform IP video surveillance management software.  Channel partners saw a detailed preview of the new product that will be launched during the first half of this year.

"Milestone created XProtect Corporate to enable our partners to meet the emerging needs of the market, with its adherence to IT standards, distributed server architecture, and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for integration," stated Lars Thinggaard, CEO at Milestone Systems.  "Combined with the ongoing development of our partner network, this new product illustrates how Milestone is on the forefront in building the new channel for IP video surveillance."

The MIPS event was attended by leading manufacturers from the security industry including: ACTi, Aimetis, Anixter, Arecont, Axis Communications, Canon, Imtech, IQinVision, JVC, Lumenera, Middleware Associates, ObjectVideo, Panasonic, Paxton Access, Polar Industries, S2Security Corporation, ScanSource Security Distribution, Toshiba, and Verint.

Some of the feedback and comments from the participants included:

"The Milestone MIPS in Miami was a true success - the best partner event I ever attended. The presentations and exhibits allowed me to network with the leading partners in our industry to offer best-of-breed solutions," said Peter Lintzeris, Senior Business Development Manager at Verint.

"MIPS was a confirmation event, cementing the fact that IP video has moved from early adoption to mainstream acceptance.  Sophisticated commercial applications for IP video are surfacing such as megapixel video with infrared day/night recording, coupled with intelligent counting algorithms. We saw them all at this Milestone symposium," stated Kortney Dunkle, President of Cam-Tek Systems, Inc.

"It was a very productive and informative weekend with the upcoming release of Milestone XProtect Corporate sure to be a success," commented John Recesso, Director of Business Development - Security Markets at Lumenera Corporation.  "The venue provided a great forum for integrators and manufacturers to exchange the latest market trends and customer needs, as well as discussing the future of network video in the security world."

The next Milestone event for channel partners will be held in September 2007 in Copenhagen, Denmark, where the company has its global headquarters.
