Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) is the number one provider of information communication technologies in Malaysia. Recently they upgrade their surveillance with ACTi's IP surveillance solutions to protect students in their training centre day and night. Due to the crime issues there, the system also provides higher security for their female students. It's not doubt the system provide more protection for the assets and equipments in TM. The Project was carried out by Elite Communication, a System Integrator for EKTECH Consulting and the distributor of ACTi.
The coaxial cabling is lousy for TM because it will increase their cost for the deployment especially on coaxial cable constructions. Since TM provides telecom service in Malaysia, they are familiar with Internet technology. Meanwhile their building comes with fiber infrastructure. Network Infrastructure especially WAN, is available and bandwidth is not any issue for them so IP Surveillance system is the best choice for them.
As the training centres are spread out in 6 different locations throughout Malaysia, remote viewing is necessary to their management level without traveling around. TM also required the monitoring and recording in multiple side including Security Guard Office, Security Director's Office and their Central Control Center at the same time. The analog or DVR system couldn't fulfill such requirements. Thanks to ACTi' ability to meet their requirements regarding cost efficiency, security, reliability and quality, TM decided to implement a fully IP Surveillance Solution involving the installation of ACTi's outdoor IP Speed Dome, CAM-6210 and outdoor IP camera, CAM-5100H at multiple site across TM. They are also satisfied with ACTi's free bundled software - ACTi Streaming Activator. Each IP Camera is accessible individually via username and password without requiring a central PC or DVR. Security personnel can easily survey any of the sites remotely and view the video at their PCs, wherever they work.
